Athy Men's Shed is in a financial fight for its survival.

It has launched a fundraising campaign to try to raise some of the €6,000 it needs, annually, for rent, light, insurance, heat and materials.

The shed, in Woodstock Industrial Estate, opened in 2011, and has around 20 active members from the town, Rathangan and Newbridge.

It opens 6 days a week, and offers social connection for men, as well as the facility to work on community based projects.

Mark Day is an Athy Men's Shed Committee member.

He joined Eoin Beatty on Friday's edition of Kildare Today.
