A ban or restriction is expected to be implemented soon to stop 5+ axle Heavy Goods vehicles (HGVs) entering Athy town centre.

Speaking on Kildare Today, he said the ban will not include HGVs delivering goods to local businesses.
Others will be asked to use the Southern Distributor road.
