Average Kildare Worker Needs Eight Times Their Salary To Buy A Home, Report Finds

The Q3 2025 report, compiled in association with Bank of Ireland, reveals that the median asking price for a property in Kildare now stands at €330,000, marking a quarterly increase of €5,000.

The average worker needs eight times their salary to buy a new home.

That's according to a new report by MyHome.ie which shows house prices appear to be easing somewhat, but only because costs are so stretched.

Property prices in Kildare have risen by €20,000 in the last year, according to the report.

Asking prices were up 5.7 per cent in the three months to September, which is down slightly on the previous quarter.

The Q3 2025 report, compiled in association with Bank of Ireland, reveals that the median asking price for a property in Kildare now stands at €330,000, marking a quarterly increase of €5,000.

Prices for a three-bedroom semi-detached house have also climbed, rising by €16,000 year-on-year to reach €315,000, with a €5,000 increase recorded in the last quarter alone.

Meanwhile, the asking price for a four-bedroom semi-detached house in the county surged by €40,000 over the past year, bringing the average to €395,000 - up €15,000 since the previous quarter.

At the end of Q3 2025, there were 590 properties listed for sale across Kildare, representing a 5% rise in supply over the quarter.

The average time for a property to go sale agreed now stands at around two and a half months.
