Gardaí confirmed the arrest was made this morning, Monday 3rd November, as part of the ongoing investigation.
The man is being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Garda station in the Kildare area.
The victim was found unresponsive on McGee Terrace at around 3:15am on the 26th of October and later died in hospital.
A post-mortem examination has been completed, but Gardaí say the results will not be released for operational reasons.
Detectives are appealing to anyone who was in the Magee Terrace area between 2:00am and 4:00am on the morning of the assault, or who may have dash-cam or other video footage, to contact them.
