Speaking in the Dáil earlier this week, Deputy Ní Raghaillaigh said that "visibility of Gardaí" was "not yet sufficient"
Calls have been made for increased Garda presence in Kildare Town and Newbridge in light of recent anti-social behaviour and violent incidents.
Speaking in the Dáil earlier this week, Sinn Féin TD for Kildare South Shónagh Ní Raghallaigh said that while she welcomes increased Garda presence following public outcry, that the "visibility of Gardaí" was "not yet sufficient".
Deputy Ní Raghaillaigh said that "violent incidents involving teenagers in public spaces" as well as "persistent anti-social behaviour such as vandalism intimidation and retail crime" need to be dealt with in the two towns.
She also claimed that community infrastructure hasn't kept up with the population of the areas.
She had asked the Taoiseach to commit to a co-ordinated plan that combines effective policing with youth diversion and community services.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin agreed that both towns are "rapidly growing", while saying that money is going into sporting and community based organisations.
