The cafe has been closed since March 2020
The Camphill Communities of Ireland have told Kfm they are "optimistic" that the An Tearmann cafe located at the Liffey Bridge in Kilcullen will re-open this summer.
The cafe has been closed since before the Covid pandemic and hasn't re-opened since.
A local petition set-up, calling for the cafe to re-open has gathered over 1,100 signatures, saying it is sorely missed by the local community, particularly those with special needs.
When asked about a re-opening date, a spokesperson for the Camphill Communities of Ireland said it is "currently in the final stages of completing arrangements to reopen the cafe" and that "any delays in arriving at this point have been caused by the stringent fire regulations required and updated IPC systems, renovations and maintenance works."
"We are optimistic about a re-opening of An Tearmann in the summer of 2024", the statement concluded.
