Judge Elva Duffy described the assault as “an appalling lapse in temper” after viewing CCTV footage.
A creche worker has been jailed for assaulting a toddler in his care.
Twenty-seven-year-old Alexandre Pallares, of Maynooth Road, Celbridge, was sentenced to three years in prison for assaulting a 19-month-old boy at a Giraffe creche last October.
The final 15 months were suspended.
At Naas Circuit Court, according to reporting by Journalist Conor Feehan, it was heard how he became frustrated while tidying the playroom and threw the child to the ground, leaving a visible imprint of toy blocks on his head and cheek.
Judge Elva Duffy described the assault as “an appalling lapse in temper” after viewing CCTV footage of the incident.
In a victim impact statement, the boy’s father called it “an act of wickedness and extreme cowardice.”
Giraffe says it took immediate action and that the incident was isolated and not reflective of its standards.
