It is only available to communities within a 9 kilometre radius of the landfill.
There are calls for the inclusion of more communities in the Drehid Landfill Community Grant
The scheme is co-administered by Kildare County Council and Bord na Móna and has, traditionally, been available to communities within a 9 kilometre radius of the landfill.
The programme aims to "fund environmental, recreational and community projects which will mitigate the impact of the landfill facility on the local community."
Fianna Fáil Cllr., Daragh Fitzpatrick says the programme map should be expanded to include the " complete parishes of Balyna and Carbury. "
At present, only some parts of both areas can apply for funding.
The motion will be debated at the November meeting of the Clane Maynooth Municipal District.
