A Kildare councillor says Hallowe'en should be for children, and refocused from the "mayhem" of recent years.

Bonfires are illegal, as are the vast majority of fireworks, in the absence of a permit.

Hallowe'en night is, also, among the busiest of the year for the Kildare Fire Service and for Naas General Hospital's ED

In recent years, Hallowe'en festivals have been set up in Leixlip and Athy, to make the evening more family-centred.

Fine Gael Naas MD Cllr., Fintan Brett, wants a similar initiative in the town.
