He replaces Joe Neville, who was recently elected to Dail Eireann
Elected members of Kildare County Council appointed Councillor Kevin Duffy as Cathaoirleach of Kildare at a special meeting of the County Council.
Councillor Duffy was presented with the chain of office at yesterday’s meeting and succeeds outgoing Cathaoirleach Joe Neville who was elected to Dáil Éireann at the recent General Election.
Four new councillors were also co-opted during yesterday's meeting.
Noel Connolly replaces Shonagh Ni Raghallaigh, Paula Mulroe replaces Aidan Farrelly, Donna Phelan replaces Naoise O'Cearuil and Paul Brooks replaces Joe Neville.
