College Costs Hit €16,000 A Year: Maynooth Among Most Expensive Options

Maynooth, Dublin, Cork and are the most expensive places to go to college.

Some students are commuting from as far as Donegal for college because accommodation in Maynooth and Dublin is too expensive.

Switcher.ie found the average cost of going away to college is around €16,000, over €500 more than last year.

Maynooth University is charging up to €6,353 for student accommodation ahead of the 2025/26 academic year.

The maximum price of €6,353 is for a single room with an en-suite bathroom, located in River, Rye Hall and Courtyard.

The minimum price it is charging is €4,761 for a single room with shared bathrooms, located in Rye Hall and Village.
