BAM Civil, based in Kill, will conduct the works.
The construction contract for the Athy Southern Distributor Road has been award.
The route, designed to funnel chronic traffic congestion out of the town centre, was first mooted in the 70s.
Preparatory works for the €30 million road have been underway for some years.
Kildare County Counicl has awarded the contract to Kill headquartered BAM Civil.
The contract will be formally signed in the coming weeks.
Kildare South Fine Gael TD, and Minister of State, Martin Heydon, says boots are expected on the ground in November.
