The new single carriageway relief road will connect the R405 Celbridge Road in the south to the R148 Leixlip Road in the north.
Kildare County Council has confirmed that the main works contract for the Maynooth Eastern Ring Road has been awarded to John Cradock Limited - a company based in Kilcullen.
The appointment, according to the council, follows an extensive tender process and recent confirmation of part-funding from the Department of Housing under the Local Infrastructure Housing Activation Fund (LIHAF).
The new single carriageway relief road will connect the R405 Celbridge Road in the south to the R148 Leixlip Road in the north.
It will feature two new signalised junctions, dedicated pedestrian and cycle routes, and a 41-metre single-span bridge over the Royal Canal and the Dublin–Sligo railway line.
Additional works will include the construction of noise barrier walls, the realignment of around 800 metres of existing roadway, and the installation of four new bus stops.
The scheme will also provide access to lands zoned for future residential development in the Maynooth area.
