Contracts have been signed for the Athy Food & Innovation Hub at the former Model School.
The building is to be transformed into a food training centre and the €7 million investment is to create up to 50 jobs.
Labour Senator Mark Wall issued an update this morning on Instragram, welcoming the news.
Work is to begin on site on Monday the 13th of May and work will be carried out in a 14-16 month timeframe.
