Cllr Aidan Farrelly said he has received a number of reports of children entering the water.
A number of safety concerns have been raised about a pond in the Prosperous town park.
With thousands of parents using the park every week, locals have expressed concern over a lack of safety barriers around the pond.
Cllr Aidan Farrelly said he has received a number of reports of children entering the water.
He said the water is not deep but that it doesn't need to be for an accident to happen.
The pond is used to deal with water flow, in the event that the land floods.
Cllr Farrelly said Kildare County Council has confirmed that a safety barrier will be erected around the pond in the coming months.
