Kildare County Council is to write to the National Transport Authority about the possibility of introducing a new Kilcock–Maynooth weekday shuttle bus.
The proposal, put forward by Social Democrats Councillor Peter Melrose, calls for a morning and evening service to allow commuters to connect with Maynooth rail services.
In response, the council says it has no direct role in scheduling public transport, but will forward the suggestion to Transport for Ireland Local Link, the NTA and the relevant service provider for consideration.
Council officials said that if the NTA determines the route is feasible, Kildare County Council will work with transport agencies to approve existing stops or deliver new bus stop infrastructure where needed.
