He also called for a special meeting between Gardaí in Naas and Kildare County Council regarding the situation.
A Naas councillor has alleged that bollards in the area are limiting the ability of Gardaí in patrol vehicles in dealing with criminal activity.
Independent Councillor Seamie Moore said that bollards on routes from Poolpluck Bridge to Canal Road, via Abbey Street and Basin Street, are limiting the abilities of Gardai in patrol vehicles, in apprehending persons engaged in trafficking and selling drugs.
He also called for a special meeting between Gardaí in Naas and Kildare County Council regarding the situation.
Speaking on Kildare Today, Independent Councillor for Naas MD Seamie Moore said that the bollards are causing a "game of chicken" between these people and Gardaí:
"This was a motion of serious concern in Naas, there's a very active development of drug dealing in an area that we would describe as from the Caragh road area to the Abbey bridge area and along to the harbour."
"People with children are very concerned to see their children looking at this type of stuff in broad daylight, wheeling and dealing of drugs and passing them off."
He said that the patrol cars are being prevented form carrying out their duties due to the bollards, with it being made easy for people to evade Gardaí by being in areas behind bollards that patrol cars can't access.
