He said that the council "didn't come back with much"
A local councillor has criticised the council's response when asked for an update on progress for a new playground in Straffan.
It comes as Straffan still has no playground, despite being a growing village.
Speaking on Kildare Today, Social Democrats Councillor for Clane-Maynooth MD Peter Melrose said that the council "didn't come back with much".
"They didn't come back with much really, it's the same answer we've been getting as long as I've been a councillor and well before it aswell.
Cllr Melrose cited the Straffan Village Renewal Masterplan from 2024, in which a playground was mentioned as part of the plan for the area:
"A playground took centre stage in that document, suitable sites were identified, there was ongoing discussions with landowners and community groups. The council would say that some of them turned out to not be viable, but there are several other [sites] around the village that would be suitable."
"I'm a bit tired of it being raised by myself and other councillors and getting the same answer and not seeing any progress on it."
"Given the amount of space it occupied [in the 2024 Master Plan] I thought it would've been optimised to a higher degree by now."
