On 25 April, a greyhound suffered a compound fracture of the right humerus and was put down by the track vet, while another was euthanised following a fractured hock on 29 August.
At least six greyhounds were injured at Newbridge Greyhound Stadium in the first eight months of 2025, with three of those dogs euthanised, according to new Department of Agriculture figures.
The data, covering the period 1 January to 31 August 2025, shows that injuries at the Kildare venue included severe fractures and limb breaks, some occurring during official races and others during private trial events.

Additional trial injuries were recorded in February, March, April, and May, two of which also led to euthanasia by owners’ vets.
The incidents in Kildare form part of a wider national trend.
Across Greyhound Racing Ireland (GRI)-licensed tracks, 242 greyhounds were injured and 138 were killed - either dying on track or being euthanised after races.
