Dept. Of Housing To Review Three Key Housing Adaptation & Mobilty Grants.

Two of the three are designed to enable people to modify their homes in accordance with their needs.

The Department of Housing has committed to a review of three kinds of housing grants.

The means testing attached to the Housing Adapation Grant is to be re-examined later this year

There are two other grants in this suite, which includes a mobility aids grant and a Housing Adaption Grant for older people.

Two of the three are designed to enable people to modify their homes in accordance with their needs.

The Dept. this year allocated €75 million to the schemes, but local authorities such as Kildare County Council, must contribute 20% funding.

Kildare North Social Democrat TD and Co-Leader, Catherine Murphy, has been speaking to Kildare Today.

She says families, in particular, may be disadvantaged by means tests.
