Whilst on patrol at North Main Street, Naas, Gardaí observed a car being driven erratically.
The driver was found to be highly intoxicated, and was seen drinking whilst driving.
The driver was arrested, and a breath test showed that they were almost four times over the legal limit of alcohol.
The car was also found to have no insurance.
The driver was subsequently arrested, and the car was seized.
They have been charged with Drunken Driving and No Insurance, and will appear in court in due course.
Penalties include a fine up to €5,000 and a mandatory three-year driving disqualification.
