Little Hill Animal Rescue, known for rescuing and rehoming turkeys and other animals, was thrilled when Fionnuala agreed to adopt the trio.
Three lucky turkeys owe their lives to the efforts of a Kildare-based animal rescue and a compassionate animal lover.
Dustin, Zig, and Zag, three best friends, were destined for Christmas dinner plates until Fionnuala Parnell stepped in to save them.
Fionnuala, a Dublin-based civil servant and devoted animal advocate, received a call over two years ago from Susan Anderson of Little Hill Animal Rescue in Kildare.
Susan was desperate to find a safe haven for the turkeys, among the last of a group slated for slaughter.

Since then, Dustin, Zig, and Zag have thrived in their new home, where they share a yard with a lively array of rescue animals.
Fionnuala’s sanctuary is home to 30 cats, 11 roosters, 10 hens, six turtles, and a collection of fish.
Dustin and Fionnuala’s cat, Cleo, can often be seen huddling up to each other.
