It comes as Uisce Éireann have announced an investment of over half a billion euro in 30 water supply projects
€64m has been allocated to upgrade the Leixlip Water Treatment Plant.
The investment will enhance the security of water supply for 620,000 people.
It is the second-largest water treatment plant in the country.
Due to take place over the next decade, investments will upgrade treatment plants, build new trunk mains, and install new strategic water storage facilities.
The utility operator says infrastructure in the greater Dublin area is running at or very close to capacity.
