Site acquisition talks are underway.
The Education Minister says she "cannot comment further" on the provision of a new secondary school in Kildare Town.
Responding to Labour TD, Duncan Smith, Norma Foley has confirmed that a site acquisition process is under way, and is commercially sensitive.
Officials from the Department are currently in negotiation with a landowner.
The Minister says her officials are continue "to work closely with Officials from Kildare County Council in order to progress" the purchase.
She adds "This negotiation is ongoing and you will appreciate that it is necessary to conduct a thorough technical analysis of the site in order to protect the best long term interests of the school and environs. "
