Family Of Shane O’Farrell - Killed In Hit-And-Run - Welcome Findings Of Bail Report

Shane O’Farrell was killed in a hit-and-run incident in August 2011 by a person who was on bail for a series of offences.

The family of a hit and run victim are calling for the Justice Minister to implement changes to the bail system.

23-year-old Shane O'Farrell from Monaghan was killed in 2011 when he was struck by a car driven by a person who was on bail for a series of offences.

His family say a new report on the issue - which contains 15 recommendations - needs to be acted upon.

Report author Senior Counsel Lorcan Staines says there has been constitutional difficulties with tightening bail restrictions.

Staines will outline the findings on Monday morning's Kildare Today show.
