At its annual meeting held today in the Council Chamber at Áras Chill Dara, Kildare County Council appointed Fianna Fail Councillor Carmel Kelly as Cathaoirleach.
Fianna Fail Councillor Veralouise Behan was appointed as Leas-Chathaoirleach.
Councillors Kelly and Behan succeed outgoing Cathaoirleach Fine Gael Councillor Kevin Duffy and Leas-Chathaoirleach Councillor Fintan Brett, also Fine Gael.
Both were formally presented with their chains of office and will serve one-year terms, effective immediately.
The meeting also noted that appointments for Cathaoirligh, Leas-Chathaoirligh, Mayors, and Deputy Mayors of Kildare’s five Municipal District Committees will be made during individual district meetings in July.
