James Lawless of Fianna Fail has become the first TD elected in Kildare North.
With the quota at 9,505, Lawless received a handsome number of transfers from Evie Sammon of Fine Gael following her elimination and finished up with 10,007 votes.
Mr. Lawless was first elected as a Councillor on the Naas MD in 2014 and served two years, before being elected to Dail Eireann in 2016.
He was returned in 2020 and had most recently been appointed Minister of State at the Department of Transport.
It is expected that the other candidates to be elected tonight are Aidan Farrelly (Soc Dems), Reada Cronin (SF), Naoise O'Cearuil (FF) and Joe Neville (FG).
