Five men are sitting at home today, unable to work, after a van was broken into in the early hours of this morning.
The targeted van, belonging to TH Heating & Plumbing, was parked in Doorley Park, Rathangan, when thieves struck between 1:30 am and 2:00 am.
The theft has left a team of tradesmen without the tools they need to earn a living.
The estimated value of the stolen equipment is around €15,000, representing six to seven years' worth of accumulated tools and gear.
Some of the stolen items were branded with the initials “TH” and were fully marked with company identification.
However, the owner told Kfm that they believe the tools may be wiped or altered before being resold.
The rented van, which will also need repair work after the incident, is understood to have been parked near another reported break-in in the area that involved a similar type van.
The company owner said the overall value will be €30K because of the loss and cost to replace the tools.
He has urged anyone with information to contact TH Heating & Plumbing or Kildare Garda Station.
