The former Odlums Mill factory in the centre of Sallins is to be demolished this week.
In 2023, planning permission was granted for 92 one, two and three bedroom apartments on the site.
A two-storey creche and a two-storey retail complex are also planned, with car parking for 125 vehicles.
A pedestrian/cycle path is also planned for beside the Canal.
Odlums milling and packaging plant closed in 2008 with the loss of 26 jobs.
