The improvements include pencil bollards, road markings, upgraded footpaths and enhanced pedestrian crossings
Four Kildare schools have been included in the next round of schools to benefit from the Safe Routes to School (SRTS) programme.
Ardscoil Rath Iomghain, Maynooth Educate Together NS, Scoil Eoin Phoil and Scoil Íde Naofa will have improvements such as:
- Pencil shaped bollards
- Colourful road markings
- Upgraded footpaths
- Enhanced pedestrian crossings
These improvements are designed to slow traffic and make walking and cycling safer for students.
The programme aims include improving safety and public health while reducing car congestion and supporting climate goals.
