New Status Yellow thunderstorm warnings for Kildare has been issued, with Met Éireann saying heavy showers are likely.
A thunderstorm and rain warning for counties Kildare, Cavan, Monaghan, Clare, Limerick, Tipperary, Dublin, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Galway and Roscommon comes into effect at 12pm and will remain in place until 10pm tonight.
Met Éireann said that spot flooding, poor driving visibility, difficult travelling conditions and power outages are all possible.
Met Eireann forecast sunny spells this morning, but adds that showers will become heavier and more widespread this afternoon and evening with thunderstorms and localised flooding possible.
Highest temperatures are expected to be between 18C to 22C.
Showers will begin to die off overnight, except for south and west coasts.
