Speaking on Kildare Today, Brenda Bolger, owner of Bolger's Motoring School, said there's an onus on drivers due to take their test to make sure their cars are road ready.
There are renewed calls for the driving test waiting lists to be tackled.
Some locals are waiting over 23 weeks, while learner drivers in some areas are waiting up to 35 weeks.
That's despite the Road Safety Authority saying it aims for an average wait time of 10 weeks.

"It's ludicrous," she said.
