The funding has been announced by the Department of Rural Affairs
€348,000 in funding has been announced by the Department of Rural Affairs for projects in Kildare.
€198,000 has been allocated for the purchase of a serviced site in the centre of Calverstown village for future development of a community space.
This allocation has been welcomed by local Fine Gael Cllr. Ivan Keatley, who, along with the Calverstown Action Network, has been campaigning for a community space in the area for a number of years.
Meanwhile, €150,000 has been allocated for an activation programme to establish a weekly market for Kildare Town Square.
Earlier this year, members of the public had their say on how they would like the Square to look in the future, as a public consultation was launched in January.
