Gardaí and Kildare County Council have jointly asked for road users to slow down as traffic volumes increase with the return of schools.

Drivers are asked to slow down and obey all speed limits, particularly near schools.
They've also stressed the importance of alertness to children crossing roads, getting off buses or cycling to school.
KCC and the Gardaí warn to never park illegally on footpaths, in cycle lanes or near school entrances, to give extra space to pedestrians and cyclists and to respect while school wardens, while also refraining from phone use during driving.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to take time to discuss road safety with children, practice safe walking and cycling routes to school and use designated drop-off and pick-up areas where available.
They are also asked to consider walking, cycling, scooting or using Park and Stride facilities where possible and ensure children are visible, particularly during darker mornings and evenings.
While children returning to school are reminded to always use pedestrian crossings, school warden controlled and designated crossing points.
