Gardaí Have 24 Hours To Question Man Over Alleged Assault Of Young Girl In Saggart

An area outside the Citywest Hotel - currently housing international protection applicants - has been cordoned off as part of a Garda investigation.

A man in his 20s remains in Garda custody this evening in connection with the alleged assault of a young girl in Saggart.

Gardai said investigations are continuing.

An area outside the Citywest Hotel - currently housing international protection applicants - has been cordoned off as part of a Garda investigation.

According to the Irish Times, the man being questioned entered Ireland six years ago.

The publication is reporting that his application for international protection was denied in 2024, and it is understood that a deportation order was issued against him in March.

Gardai have 24 hours to question the man before he is released or charged with an offence.
