Gardaí have issued an alert about a scam in which fraudsters make WhatsApp calls in an effort to gather personal information.
The caller is using the Garda crest as the profile photo on the platform.
However An Garda Síochána says these people are not officers, and nobody from the organisation would contact a person out of the blue.
It's calling on people who believe they may have engaged with a scammer to get in touch.
