Gardaí are reminding parents that high-powered e-scooters are illegal for children after an underage rider was stopped in Naas.
Naas Community Gardaí have seized an illegal high-powered e-scooter after stopping a 14-year-old rider during a patrol at Naas Harbour.
The KuKirin G2 e-scooter was seized and the child's parents were contacted.
Gardaí said the parents believed it was only being used within their housing estate.
They are urging parents not to buy high-powered e-scooters for children, warning that models capable of travelling above 20km/h are not legal for use on public roads or in public places.
Under Irish law, e-scooters users must be at least 16 years of age and obey a maximum speed limit of 20km/h.
Gardaí say illegally used e-scooters can be seized and are reminding people to stay safe.
