Government Terminates 12 IPAS Contracts In Past Seven Months Over Rule Breaches

The Department of Justice says the closures are the result of breaches in contracts, or non-compliance with regulations, and all people affected have been moved to other centres.

More IPAS accommodation centres have closed this year than in the last three years combined.

The contracts for 12 centres have been terminated in the last seven months, leading to the loss of 490 beds from the system.

John Lannon, CEO of Doras, says emergency accommodation housing over 25 thousand people also need to be inspected.
