Government To Review HAP Rent Limits As Properties Available Under The Scheme In Kildare Decrease

As of July, the county had just four properties available to rent within HAP limits.

The government is reviewing current rent limits in the Housing Assistance Payment scheme.

Junior Housing Minister John Cummins says he expects changes to the current limits to be made to meet recent market increases.

HAP is a social housing support provided by local authorities, where the council pays a person's rent to the landlord, and they pay the council a HAP contribution based on income.

Kildare saw a reduction in the number of HAP properties this year.

As of July, the county had just four properties available to rent within HAP limits.

Minister of State at the Department of Housing and Local Government John Cummins says the current limits need to be reassessed.
