He is currently a Green Party representative for the Naas MD.
Kfm understands that Naas MD Green Party Cllr. Colm Kenny is to resign from his position on Kildare County Council.
In June 2020, following the appointment of Vincent P Martin as a Senator, Mr Kenny was co-opted on to Kildare County Council.
He told party members that he is resigning “with a heavy heart as it was an absolute privilege and honour to serve my native community as their public representative.”
He further went on to say: “I will continue to work for my community, striving for a greener, cleaner Kildare, but no longer in the capacity as a county councillor.”
Speaking to Kfm, Cllr. Kenny said that he found the last few weeks and months particularly difficult to balance his work on the Council with his professional work as a lab scientist in Naas General Hospital.
The Green Party must now nominate another candidate after the party holds a selection convention to choose a replacement.
