Here’s Where Kildare’s €20 Million Roads Funding Is Going - Including Funds For Newbridge Second Bridge

The largest share - €11.33 million - is going toward new road construction and major improvement works, including continued progress on the Athy Southern Distributor Road, the R407 Sallins Bypass and Osberstown Interchange, and the Newbridge Southern Orbital Relief Route.

Kildare is to receive just over €20 million in Department of Transport funding for regional and local roads in 2026.

The largest share - €11.33 million - is going toward new road construction and major improvement works, including continued progress on the Athy Southern Distributor Road, the R407 Sallins Bypass and Osberstown Interchange, and the Newbridge Southern Orbital Relief Route.
 
€200,000 has been included to advance design work and prepare construction contract documents for a second bridge in Newbridge.

Construction is expected to begin in 2027, subject to the procurement process.
