HIQA has deemed two Kildare nursing homes non-compliant on infection control standards, following unannounced inspections.
Assessments took place at Lourdesville Nursing Home and Oghill Nursing Home on February 1st, and the reports published today.
Lourdesville Nursing Home was assessed on 13 standards, on which it was compliant on 8, and substantially so on 3.
It did not meet the Health Information and Quality Authority standards on infection control and its premises.

HIQA says, of residents' views "Every single resident confirmed that they were happy living in the centre and were looked after very well by a dedicated team of staff who were kind and caring. Residents said that they felt safe in the centre and that they were satisfied with the level of care and support they received. "

Oghill Nursing Home was examined on 14 standards; it was compliant on 9, substantially so on 3, and non-compliant on infection control.
HIQA says "The inspector spoke with eight residents who described their lives in the centre and their experience of the COVID-19 pandemic. The general feedback from residents was of satisfaction with the care and service provided. The inspector observed the atmosphere in the communal area to be relaxed and happy."
In both cases, nursing homes have provided compliance plans to HIQA.
