New figures show that between January 2024 and June 2025, a total of 566 fixed charge notices were issued in the Kildare/Carlow Garda Division for parking in disabled bays without a valid permit.
Over 7,500 fines have been issued nationwide for illegal parking in disabled spaces over the past 18 months - and Kildare is among the higher-ranking counties for offences.
New figures show that between January 2024 and June 2025, a total of 566 fixed charge notices were issued in the Kildare/Carlow Garda Division for parking in disabled bays without a valid permit.
That includes 398 fines in 2024 and 168 so far in 2025.
The figures come from An Garda Síochána’s Fixed Charge Processing System and are subject to change.
Disability rights groups have long called for stricter enforcement and better awareness around the misuse of accessible parking spaces.
