Justice Minister Announces 'Updated' Database For Missing Persons

It means information on cases from coroners around the country can be searched, and details on any items found with remains can be shared.

The Minister for Justice has announced an updated database for missing persons.

It means information on cases from coroners around the country can be searched, and details on any items found with remains can be shared.

Helen McEntee announced the measures today, to coincide with National Missing Persons Day.

She says the Department of Justice is continually trying to step up efforts relating to cold cases.

Families of missing people across Ireland will gathered in Croke Park this morning to remember their loved ones at the 12th annual 'Missing Persons' day.

The Justice Minister's announcement comes as Gardaí investigating the disappearance and murder of Jo Jo Dullard have completed their search of a section of open ground near the Wicklow/Kildare border.

The team says recent Garda activity has been of assistance.

Jo Jo's family have been updated on the current position of the investigation and will not be commenting further on the searches "for operational reasons".

Gardaí have acknowledged the significant response of the public to recent appeals, and it continues to appeal to any person with any information, to come forward in confidence.
