The proposal was first made in February.

Kildare County Council is being called on to issue up-dates on a proposal enter talks with neighbouring councils on shared road gritting.

Fine Gael Cllr., Tracey O'Dwyer, first raised the matter at the February meeting of the Kildare Newbridge Municipal District.

She proposed that KCC "engage with neighboring councils to identify border routes that could be shared in the 2021/2022 gritting route so as to allow additional accident prone roads...be included in the gritting programme for 2021/2022,"

The councillor noted routes including  the Sunnyhill Road in Kilcullen, the Brannockstown to Naas road and the  Dunlavin to Kilcullen Road.

In a motion before the July meeting of the MD, she is asking Kildare County Council to state its progress in the talks.
