Up to 10 homes on a single street in the town are understood to be idle.
Kildare County Council is being asked to audit the number of empty homes in Prosperous.
It follows reports that up to 10 social homes on a single street in the town are vacant.
Social Democrats Cllr., Aidan Farrelly, wants to know the duration of time any relevant homes have been empty.
He also wants KCC to act "to prioritise the necessary works in order to make them available for allocation."
The motion will come before the October meeting of the Clane Maynooth Municipal District on Friday.
