The meeting took place this afternoon
This afternoon all Kildare North TDs and councillors on the Celbridge-Leixlip MD met with Minister Kevin 'Boxer' Moran to discuss Castletown House.
Speaking to Kfm a number of the TDs have described the meeting as "positive", with "constructive outcomes that we collectively welcome".
Some of the key updates from the meeting are as follows.
- Minister Moran plans to open the grounds to the public from dawn to dusk from next week.
- OPW staff will be back onsite this week.
- OPW staff will be parking at Donaghcumper at an existing yard and will be transported by OPW vehicle to the house via Batty Langley Lane.
- Plans for a car park at Kildare Innovation Campus have been drawn up.
- OPW will seek planning from Kildare County Council in the coming weeks, with Minister Moran eager for this to happen within 8-10 weeks.
- Minister Moran keen to maintain grounds properly and render safe following a period of closure.
- Maintenance teams will need to access grounds via Lime Avenue, however this will be limited to 4-5 vehicles per day.
- There is an intention to introduce a mobility train / shuttle service from the new car park at Kildare Innovation Campus.
- OPW plan on opening public toilets and bins as soon as possible.
- Organised activities such as Park Run to recommence soon.
