The official opening of a new community centre in Kilcock will took place this morning.
The centre includes a multi-purpose recreation hall with changing facilities, two multipurpose rooms and a projector room.
A new playground, sensory garden and taste garden will be delivered in the open space around the centre in the coming months.
Speaking at the official opening, Cathaoirleach of the County of Kildare, Councillor Daragh Fitzpatrick, said: “Community centres play a vital role in our communities and serve as the hub of local life. Whether you seek a space for recreation, education, cultural enrichment or simply connecting with your neighbours, your community centres stand as welcoming pillars, fostering a sense of belonging and empowerment within their respective communities."
Sonya Kavanagh, Chief Executive of Kildare County Council, added: “Kilcock has a long history of community involvement and participation, and I am confident The Kilcock Community Centre will soon become a hub of activity, of learning and where friendships are forged for years to come.”
Marian Higgins, Director of Services, said: “Today marks a significant milestone in our commitment to fostering a strong sense of community here in Kilcock. The vision behind this centre is to provide a central hub to serve the local area, residents and community groups."
