The hike, coupled with so-called 'Ghost buses,' has locals extremely frustrated.
There's growing discontent among Kilcock residents regarding a recent decision to increase bus fares by 20%.
Speaking to KFM, Peter Melrose, who is running as a local election candidate in Maynooth for the Social Democrats, said he's shocked at the timing of the fare hike, considering the government's push for reduced car usage.
He said the hike, coupled with so-called 'Ghost buses,' has locals extremely frustrated.
He said buses buses are often disappearing from the bus stop display and never show up, with some students recently missing their exams as a result.
The fare for the Kilcock-Dublin bus service is set to rise by 20%, going from €3.08 to €3.70.
Peter questioned why locals are expected to pay more for a service that is "unreliable".
He said locals have taken to social media platforms to vent their frustrations.
