Officials say any upgrades will have to be prioritised against the scale of upgrades identified.
More than 500 bus stops in Kildare are waiting for upgrades - a backlog so large it now overshadows local requests for basic facilities.
The scale of the problem emerged after Cllr Paul Brooks (FG) sought new benches at Dublin Bus stops in Riverforest, Leixlip.
Kildare County Council says it will speak to the National Transport Authority about improvements there, but stressed that Riverforest is just one item in a countywide list of over 500 bus stops in need of improvements.
Officials say any upgrades will have to be prioritised against the scale of upgrades identified.
